Crawler Error Fixed
posted 2008-12-21 15:13:52
Due to the US WoW Armory changing recently our crawlers were temporarily marking all US guilds as having not enough members. This has been fixed now and we're going to be re-crawling those guilds. Sorry for the downtime and many thanks to those that reported the issue to us!

Also, we made a slight change to how our page links are created so you may need to update your old bookmarks.
EverQuest and EverQuest 2 Progression Added
posted 2008-12-19 23:06:43
We're proud to unveil new portiona of our site dedicated to EverQuest and EverQuest2 guild progression. For those of you who are new to our site, you will find data there that allows you to compare your PvE progress to that of other guilds on your server as well as the world.

We gather this data from the EQPlayers site. If a player in a guild has certain items in their profile, they will credit their guild with credit for that boss. For more information on this please visit the EQ/EQ2 FAQ.

We're excited to finally be able to add these new games to our site and hope you enjoy your visit! You can find the sites at http://eq.guildprogress.com and http://eq2.guildprogress.com. If you have any comments you may use the contact link at the bottom of every page.
Guild Requirement Lowered
posted 2008-12-12 14:39:18
We just lowered the requirement for a guild down to at least 10 level 80 members. This was originally set at 20. Existing guilds marked "disbanded" will be re-crawled and processed if they meet the new requirements. Thanks for your feedback!
Achievements in Armory
posted 2008-12-05 23:05:32
We just launched a new version of our crawlers that will use achievement information on the WoW Armory to provide us with data on progression. This new method will allow us to provide much more accurate stats on guild progress. For details on the new method, please check out the FAQ. Also, all old expansion data will be dropped once the guild is processed using the new method. This ensures that our data is as accurate as possible! Thanks for visiting!
Armory Issues
posted 2008-11-30 17:36:19
There seems to be some problems with the Armory website this weekend. The EU Armory specifically seems to be suffering from downtime which is keeping us from updating those guilds. Feel free to continue queueing guilds but keep in mind that there may be delays until they are actually crawled.

Update: It appears the European Armory is still down for maintenance. As soon as their servers are back online then we will be able to continue crawling those guilds.
Gluth Fixed
posted 2008-11-24 15:43:52
We've added a fix to work around the problem with Gluth not being captured by the crawlers. We're also planning on implementing a system to automatically grant kills for mobs that have had to be defeated in order to work your way through the dungeon.

Our new crawler program is also nearing completion and should be ready for public consumption soon. You should notice a slight increase in processing speed as we have some people testing the new program.

Thanks for visiting!
WoTLK Added
posted 2008-11-18 16:20:51
We just finished adding Wrath of the Lich King raid bosses to our site. Data should begin trickling in for those bosses shortly.

Note: We're missing loot data for Gluth for both Heroic and Regular Naxxramas. So until we find concrete information on the loot these kills will not be captured.
Crawler Queue
posted 2008-11-06 16:32:03
We've added a small page that shows the current guild queue along with a list of recent guild crawls. You can access this page by clicking "crawler queue" on the menu bar above.
Finished Moving!
posted 2008-10-29 17:26:40
We're in the process of moving our site to a new host. Until this process is complete, no new data will be accumulated. Any guilds queued or added after this news posting will need to be re-queued or added once our transfer is complete. We will make a post when this is complete. It should be no longer than 1-2 days.

UPDATE: If you can see this, the move is finished and you may once again queue guilds to be crawled!
Thumbs!
posted 2008-10-13 20:39:14
We've implemented a system to allow you to vote whether a kill is legit or not. Simply mouse over the kill entry in the guild's page or on a progress chart page and select thumbs up or thumbs down. This will help us monitor kills based on your feedback.
By the way...
posted 2008-08-22 18:27:18
We're aware that the ranking/scoring system is a little bit weird at the moment and are planning to revise it shortly.

Also, we know that sometimes queued guilds are taking a long time to process due to our crawlers being temporarily blocked from the armory website. This issue is most common for the US Armory. We're looking into setting up more crawlers to avoid this problem.
Site Revision Complete!
posted 2008-08-03 23:20:20
We are pleased to unveil a new and improved look for guildprogress.com! Our goal was to remove some of the excess pages/charts and refocus on the core content that our site provides.

One of the most obvious changes is the removal of the user system and the need to log in to submit data. We now allow anyone to submit data for any guild without the need to log in.

We have many more new features planned and hope to add them as soon as possible! in the meantime, enjoy the new site and the new look and feel free to send any comments or bugs to us via the contact form.

Our site is optimized for Firefox 3.0. However, we are aware of a few styling issues that plague Internet Explorer and are working to correct them.
Site Revision
posted 2008-07-08 19:37:06
Just wanted to drop a note to mention that we are currently designing a new and improved version of the site. We're really excited at the changes we are making and hope to have it released soon. Look for it to be released near the end of July. Shortly after that release we will begin adding support for other MMOs.
Forced Guild Crawl
posted 2008-06-22 20:16:04
You can now use the submit kill button to flag your guild to be placed at the front of our crawler's queue. You should no longer have to manually enter new or missing kills. Simply select your guild from the drop down menus and let our crawlers do the work. Depending on Armory speeds and the amount of other guilds in the queue, your guild should be crawled within the hour. You may still manually edit your guild's kills using the old method.
More Guilds Added
posted 2008-05-30 15:34:36
We just added 28278 guilds to our database. These guilds will be crawled as soon as possible. If you still do not see your guild on our site you may use the submit guild button above to add it.
Changes To Come
posted 2008-05-30 12:47:31
Just wanted to drop a note and say there should be some improvements made to the site in the coming weeks. We're looking to clean up the current site and expand to cover other MMORPGs. Please check back in the near future for these improvements!
Quick Guild Add
posted 2008-03-31 19:55:56
I implemented a method for adding guilds without having to register for the site and be in the guild that you are adding. Simply click the submit guild on the menu bar. Please make sure you type your guild name exactly as it appears in the game. Guilds added this way will be entered into the queue to be crawled and their data should appear on the site within 24 hours. So please feel free to submit any guild that you do not see on the site. Thanks!
Karazhan Wiped
posted 2008-03-31 19:26:11
Karazhan kill data has been wiped from the database. Karazhan kills were accounting for roughly half of the data. This should provided quicker page loads.
Minor Updates
posted 2008-03-28 16:02:05
Hello! I had some free time to make a few minor updates to the site today. Also, guilds that no longer appear on the Armory are being marked as such. However, until I decide if these guilds should still be displayed on the site (and if so, in what capacity) they will still appear in the charts. I am also considering removing Karazhan from the site since that content has long been beaten. Unless I receive a compelling argument for keeping it on the site it will be removed in the future. This in turn would help speed the site up a bit. Look for more updates in the near future but if you find any bugs or have any suggestions please send me an email at feedback@guildprogress.com.
Disbanded Guilds
posted 2008-01-22 00:17:54
In the near future we will begin purging disbanded guilds from our database. We'll drop a note here when this is going to begin taking place.
US Armory
posted 2008-01-06 22:44:17
The US Armory appears to be having issues lately so new data for US realms will be delayed until this is resolved. The EU Armory seems unaffected by this. If you are trying to add a guild manually and receive Armory error messages, please email us.

Update: This appears to be resolved now.
Brief Update
posted 2007-12-04 21:52:22
We've completed our first sweep of the US Armory and have already begun another round. We also are about halfway through the EU Armory. Overall, we have updated the progress of some 34,000 guilds! Please bear in mind that we are not adding any new guilds to our database using this method. So if you do not see your guild on our site then you need to add it in order for it's progress to be tracked. During this process we are also flagging guilds that no longer exist and will remove them from our database soon enough.

We will turn our focus now to updating the existing content on the site. If you have any suggestions for ways in which we can display our data please do not hesitate to contact us! We are also aware that some of our charts are not accurate and we hope to address this soon enough. Once again, thank you for visiting!
The Crawling Has Begun
posted 2007-11-17 01:23:12
I've completed the initial work on a program that will gather data from the WoW Armory. Any kill that is added using this method will be marked as being killed on the date it was discovered. Also, any kill added this way will be allowed to be edited once by a user. So if you find a kill that was added by the user "Spider" that has the incorrect date, then you may change this date. The goal of this is to make our information as accurate as possible. Please bear in mind that it will take time to check every guild in our database on the Armory. You are still able to add kills manually. As always, thanks for visiting!

Update: Gathering data from the WoW Armory is a much slower process than originally anticipated. The data is slowing coming in but with the constant downtime and slow responses on the WoW Armory it will take some time to do a full sweep.

In the works...
posted 2007-11-07 20:39:54
We're beginning work on a system that will gather information from the Armory in an attempt to automate the process of adding kills. In the meantime you are still able to manually add and update kills. You are also able to post comments, update guild information, upload screenshots and post video links for your kills. Be sure to check back often as we improve the site!
